The following instructions help set up the development environment required to develop on STEP.

Sign up to mailing lists

There are several mailing lists that would be helpful to sign up. CrossWire host these:

• Sword-devel - All general questions about the Sword project go here as well as their C++ library
• JSword-devel - We use JSword, the Java library, to provide Bible & Commentary text
• Tyndale-devel - Our own mailing list - not very active, but that could change.

Create accounts

Create accounts at:

• https://stepweb.atlassian.net
• https://github.com/
• set up an SSH key for git  (after which you probably need to close the command window and open it again)

Fork the following repositories

• https://github.com/tyndale/step (master)
• https://github.com/tyndale/jsword (jsword-tyndale-master)

In this folder, there is a page to setup on Windows and a page to setup on Mac.  Follow one of those pages for the rest of the installation.
